Hi Abby!  I can't seem to figure out how to leave comments on your actual blog entries, so I'll just respond here :). 
I too am amazed at the work Joseph Smith did in translating the Bible--when I read it I now look at the JST footnotes at the bottom with a renewed sense of wonder and appreciation.  The Lord truly does work through vessels who seem weak and unlearned to the world, but He qualifies those whom He calls.  Thanks for sharing your impressions!
