Talk on Holy Ghost

Holy Ghost
Some people think of it as a warm feeling. Others describe it as giving them goose pimples and others as if water were being poured over them. For each person there is a different explanation of what the influence of the Holy Ghost feels like.
The Holy Ghost is very important. One of the three members of the Godhead along with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. God, the Father and Jesus Christ are glorified beings. The Holy Ghost is a spirit.
Moroni teaches us that by the power of the Holy Ghost we can know the truth of all things. Notice that Holy Ghost bears witness to truth. The Holy Ghost can not bear witness to a lie or falsehood.
I once heard it explained that the Holy Ghost is like a flashlight that shines in a dark room. Without the Holy Ghost we can see nothing in a dark room. With just a little light shining from a small flashlight we can see our way around in a dark world.
It is important that we work hard to keep the Holy Ghost as our constant companion. Before baptism and confirmation you can still feel the influence of the Holy Ghost. If you couldn’t people would not be able to obtain a testimony before baptism.
You might ask, “How do I keep the Holy Ghost as my constant companion?”
The things you should do to keep the Holy Ghost’s influence are the following:
Prayer
Scripture Study
Attendance to church meetings
Living the word of wisdom
Etc.
The Holy Ghost is often referred to as a “still small voice”. I would like to share a story.
One time some years ago Satan and his little devils were sitting around discussing how they could get a hold of the souls of men. One little devil said. Lets teach them that drinking alcohol is fun and that “Weekends were made for Michelob”, another suggested that they encourage gambling and the idea that “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”. Another suggested that they do all they can to convince people that God is dead.
Satan after listening to all these suggestions said “We will do none of these things. What we will do is create an abundance of noise and activity in people’s lives. Let them schedule soccer games to conflict with church activity, TV programs that occupy their time and entertain them so they have no time for their scriptures, trips to the amusement park on the weekend so they have no time for church. Let’s make sure that there is lots of music to keep them entertained and so that there is no quiet time. Music in the home, in the car and even little devices so that they don’t have to socialize they can put in earphones and listen even more to music. With all this we won’t have to do anything we will let the people do it to themselves.”

Think about this. The more noise there is in our lives the less time we have to hear the still small voice of the Holy Ghost.
Make time for the Holy Ghost. Find quiet time, go to the beach, drive up to the mountains, find your quiet place. It is when you are quiet when you have no distractions that you can best hear that still small voice of the Holy Ghost.
I am not saying that you can’t be influence by the Holy Ghost with all the rest of living going on around you but you can and will receive greater impressions if you make time and room for the Holy Ghost in your life.

I have been gone for a bit and I came to say hello on your page, and then noticed I wasn't listed as a friend, and that prompted the comment. I hope everything is going well for you and yours. Take care.

Dear B_R,

We saw you visited our page.  Please feel free to come again any time!

Very much enjoyed your testimony of the Holy Ghost - especially the story you shared about all the noise.  It's so true.  There's so much noise these days.

Take care and have a great evening!
