If pig latin is a language, then I am fluent. I know a little Spanish. Just enough to get myself in trouble. I grew up in an Irish/German and Italian community. So I know random words from each of these ethnic groups. I know some American Sign Language as well. Most of it I picked up from holding my Primary calling. I never had an interest in learning another language when I was young, but now I would love to learn Spanish, American Sign Language and Gaelic.

I love the scriptures. I had read the Bible completely five times before joining the church. The New Testament was my favorite, but I enjoyed the stories of the Old Testament. I just didn't understand a lot of the Old Testament. It wasn't until I joined the church and was able to read the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine & Coventants that I fell in love with the Old Testament. I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon and have read it several times, but I am not as familiar with it as I am the Bible. I am looking forward to teaching it in Seminary because I know I will learn so much.

I belong to a book club that several of my friends/Sisters put together. We have two wards in our building so our book club has a variety of sisters. Once a month a sister hosts a book and we meet to discuss the book at that sister's home. We have read several books that I have listed below. If they have a smiley face then I loved a/o liked them, no smiley, no likey so much:
Snow flower and the secret fan. =0)
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. =0)
The Good Earth =0)
A Christmas Carol =0)
Confessions of an Ugly Step-Sister =0)
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter =0)
Mutant Message Down Under
Three Cups of Tea
The Thirteenth Tale =0)

Although many, many of my friends had read Sister Stephanie Meyer's books, I had no interest in them. Then I started teaching Seminary and my students, male and female, really encouraged me to read it. I just finished Twilight and New Moon and really enjoyed them. I liked Twilight, but New Moon was my favorite so far. I am impatiently waiting on the next two books to come in at my library so that I can read them as well.

These are my favorite author's: Agatha Christie, J.K. Rowlings, M.C. Beaton, Sue Grafton, and John Grisham. I also enjoy Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark, Diana Gabaldon, Margaret Truman and P.G. Wodehouse.

My most favorite song in the world is The Alabaster Box, by Cece Wynans. This song is about the woman who comes to Jesus and washes him feet with her tears, wipes them clean with her hair and kisses him feet. It is my most favorite story in the New Testament.

I look at myself as this woman. My sins were so many and so great, I did not feel worthy of my Heavenly Father's love or the love of my Savior and I surely did not feel worthy of the Atonement.

These are the words:
The room grew still
As she made her way to Jesus
She stumbled through the tears that made her blind
She felt such pain
Some spoke in anger
Heard folks whisper
There's no place here for her kind
Still on she came
Through the shame that flushed her face
Until at last, she knelt before his feet
And though she spoke no words
Every tear she she shed was heard
As she poured her love for the Master
From her box of Alabaster

Chorus:
And I've come to pour
My praise on Him-like oil
From Mary's alabasterbox
Don't be angry if I wash His feet with my tears
And dry them with my hair
You weren't there-the night He found me
You did not feel what I felt
When He wrapped His loving arms around me
And you don't know the cost
Of the oil in my alabaster box

I can't forget
The way life used to be
I was a prisoner
To the sins that had me bound
I spent my days
Poured my life-without measure
Into a little treasure box
I thought I had found
Until the day-when Jesus came to me
And healed my soul
With the wonders of-His love
So now I'm giving back to Him
All the praise He's worthy of
I've been forgiven
And that's why
I love Him so much

Chorus:
And I've come to pour
My praise on Him-like oil
From Mary's alabasterbox
Don't be angry if I wash His feet with my tears
And dry them with my hair
You weren't there-the night He found me
You did not feel what I felt
When He wrapped His loving arms around me
And you don't know the cost
Of the oil in my alabaster box

I stopped watching R-rated movies twelve years ago. I rarely watch PG-13 movies. I mostly watch PG and G-rated movies because those are the ones that I can watch with my children. I do have a few movies that I love and thought I would share with you.

When I am feeling sad, I love to watch the Bird Cage. It always makes me feel better, because I can laugh and cry and get it all out. I love Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, but most of all I love the character Agador Spartacus played by Hank Azaria. This is one of my favorite clips:

I love the Harry Potter Movies, they are great. I feel bad though for those who only see the movies and have not read the books. They are missing so much!!

I love the Sound of Music

I love Hairspray as well.

I know its not a movie, but I really, really loved Roswell when the series was out. Recently my wonderful children bought me all three seasons for Christmas.

Spending as much time with my children as possible, listening to music, reading, cooking, baking, family history.

You must login to see these testimonies.

This is a video I made of my seminary student. I love my students and they give me great hopr for the future. They are great kids who have growing testimonies and a great love for the Lord.

I think the greatest thing in the world is that we can hear the prophets testify of the Lord and his work.

Our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson

Our last prophet, Gordon B. Hinkley

We are also blessed to hear from our Apostles, past and present. One of my most favorite and beloved Apostles is Elder Wirthlin. This is his final testimony.

I am a convert to the church. I am very active in my ward. I am the seminary teacher, I do the ward newsletter, I serve on the RS board and the Primary board.
I am a BSA merit badge counselor for 10 different badges, not just for our ward, but for the Shawnee District.
I have three children, two sons (22 and 11) and one daughter (18). My sister lives with me and is helping me raise my children.
I work for BlueCross and BlueShield.
I love to cook and bake.
I love to spend time with my children.
I love to laugh and spend time with friends.
I love family history and have collected a database of over 12,000 family names.
I enjoy reading and belong to a book club that several sister started at my ward.

Yes, I have been very busy. I was fortunate enough to get a job promotion and had to go to training for that job for two-months. I have not had much time to spare with doing that and teaching Seminary every morning. I am glad to see that I am not forgotten, and neither are you. I hope church and life are going well with you.
