I LOVE books...ALL books. I've always been into religious studies - so I really enjoy reading books on the various religions and philosophies out there (I'm really into mythology and reading about nature-based religions/spirituality). Historical fiction and non-fiction, biographies (and autobiographies), mystery, suspense, horror, children's literature, sci fi and fantasy. You name it - I'll read it :) But some faves are:

Salem's Lot
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Chronicles of Prydain
The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Anything by Jane Austen
Clan of the Cave Bear
Anything by C.S. Lewis

and I have to add: Calvin & Hobbes :) And that right now, I am reading the Book of Mormon, because of my renewed interest in my childhood faith.

I'll listen to just about anything :) Billy Joel has always been a favorite - but currently, I am really into Celtic music, with Loreena McKennitt being one of my favorites right now. I also like folksy music (Indigo Girls), Melissa Ethridge, Janis Joplin, The Doors (60s/70s rock), and nothing brings in the summer better than Jimmy Buffett :)

AND I have to say one of the reasons I fell madly in love with my hubby is because he had a velvet Elvis hanging above his sofa, where Elvis' ascot actually matched the orange velour of the couch...lol I LOVE Elvis...played his albums (not dating myself too much here, huh?) and cried the whole day he died. My friends thought I was nuts...especially when I didn't know who John Lennon was when he died! Oh, well ;)

I just have WAY too many movies that I consider to be favorites. I can go with my staples of Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind and To Kill A Mockingbird...but there are so many more. I love old movies (think Mildred Pierce, anything with Judy Garland, Jean Harlow & Errol Flynn), but I also enjoy watching action/adventure (Independence Day, Jurassic Park, Twister, The Mummy), historical movies (like Braveheart, Apocalypto, Anne of the Thousand Days), silly movies (Monty Python and the Holy Grail) - and yes, horror (okay, so I like zombie movies! LOVE Shaun of the Dead...and anything by George Romero!) and scifi (I was a big fan of the Creature Double Feature as a kid!)...and of course, some of the "feel-good" movies out there, with Fried Green Tomatoes being one of my favorites. I also have to admit that Monsters, Inc. is one of my favorite Disney/cartoon movies. There's something about that movie that just makes me smile and gives me the warm fuzzies :) I guess I like an eclectic array of movies :)

I guess I should mention that one of my ALL TIME favorite movies/TV mini series is Lonesome Dove. I think Robert Duvall gave THE best performance ever in that mini series!

Reading, writing stories and poetry, working with herbs, gardening, making soaps/oils/ointments/candles, baking, hiking (when I have the opportunity to do so!),camping, volunteering for SMA causes.

Any Barney video - because Barney has brought my youngest such joy over the years. The Big Purple Guy has seen my daughter through some of the most trying of times - and I'm thankful that he has so many videos out there to choose from!

I also love the fact that some of my old favorite TV shows are now on video: I love Lucy, Land of the Lost, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (a favorite, guilty pleasure!), Sigmond and the Sea Monsters, etc. etc. Now my kids can watch some of the shows I watched as a kid - and most of them are FAR better than the ones they have out there today!

Right now, personally, I'm watching The Vicar of Dibley (oh, gosh, this series makes me LAUGH!) and The Tudors (trying to catch up!)...

I am a married, homeschooling Mom of three children. My youngest is physically disabled, living with the disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Type I. She was diagnosed at 5 weeks old and given just months to live...BUT...she celebrated her 7th birthday in April (Yay!). We have been SO blessed to have her in our lives, and are so thankful that we have been given these years with her as a member of our family. I take care of her, full-time, along with my other two children - and I enjoy every minute of it (even the crazy minutes!)!

Hi Daune...

Nice to meet you, too!  Amazing - about your daughter!  Just goes to show you that no one, here on this Earth, can tell you when you will die.  I'll never forget during my daughter's first illness, they spent more time trying to convince us to let her go than they did trying to provide the best care for her.  It was awful...but she pulled through then...and has again and again.  There is so much we can learn from these special kids...they are such a blessing!  I'm glad you had your daughter for 10 years, and I'm sure she still lives with you, guiding you - just in a different way!

I love Elvis' movie "Blue Hawaii" - always have, since I was a kid.  In fact, I had The Hawaiin Wedding Song played at my wedding.  Too bad Elvis wasn't alive to sing it himself (like he would have, really, right?  lol)  *sniff*  *sniff*

Take care, Kim

Hi, Kim...just got home.  My niece is visiting from Utah, so we all went out to a Chinese Buffet tonight...25 of us!!!  LOL

Steffi was a joy and a blessing in our life.  She had the most loving and happy spirit, even through all the operations and hospital stays.  She taught us so much.  NEVER listen to Dr.s about quality or length of life...they cannot know what Heavenly Father's plan is, for us!

My whole family knows that at my funeral, they had better play some Elvis...Amazing Grace, especially!!!  LOL...

Great talking to you...Daune... (pronounced DAWN, in case you didn't know...)

Me, too.  Lovelovelove Elvis!  I really like your avatar.  I had a daughter born with Spinal Biffita and Hydro Cephalis.(sp?)  She had the worst case of both, that the Dr.s had ever seen.  In fact, they advised my husband to tell me the child had died...they were so sure she would die shortly after birth.  She lived 10 years!

Clan of the Cave Bear...Love it.    Nice meeting you...Daune
