I was "born into the Church" -- but just barely. My mother was pregnant with me when my family was baptized. I was raised LDS, and was very much a believer into young adulthood. I'm old enough to have given the sacrament gem and two-and-a-half-minute talks. (If you have to ask, you're either not LDS or haven't reached middle age!)

LOL.... Hey I enjoyed your reminder about the sacrament gen and the two and a half minute talks!  My father was the sunday school superintendent, so if whoever was giving the talk didn't show up, guess who talked?  Yep!  He would hand us an "instructor" (which I suspect you remember as well) and we had a few minutes to prepare a 2 1/2 minute talk.  I had forgotten the Sacrament Gem until you mentioned it.

Fun memories!

C'mon 44 is not middle age.......more like late stage youth. Welcome to the site. I really enjoy posts from non or former LDS. I have been active in church for 3 years and 3 months and was inactive for 21 years. I am a bit uber zealous at times and sometimes forget what it is like to not be a Mormon.
