I'm not your average, typical mormon. I grew up in the church, been a member for 13 years. I go to church, hold a calling, have a recommend, if you saw me at church, I'm just your average every day LDS church goer... but I have very different view on the church and it's beliefs. Does that make me a "bad Mormon?" I don't think so. The church is imperfect, and it's views have changed over time. The only part of the gospel I have a firm, 100 % belief in is of Jesus Christ.
As Joseph Smith said"
“The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it.”
This I realized a little too late. After finding out I had been lied to from my church leaders, the people I held so dearly in my heart, I did my own research, and what I found caused me to leave the church for a time. No, it was not "anti." But staying in the church in the state I was, caused me to be extremely depressed, betrayed, and felt of little worth.
I came to realize that I do not have to believe in every thing the church believes in to be a Mormon. I love my church, and I believe they do a great good in the world.
I hope not to offend any one here with my beliefs, I accept yours, I hope the same respect in return.
