Joy is the reward. Joy is the purpose for existence. Joy is light. Joy is glory.
True joy can endure. Joy originating from the fleeting rewards of the impermanent is illusion - it has no substance and will not sustain. What principles are true, permanent, and result in a lasting reward, true joy?

Sitting in church last week, I began thinking about something our last stake president used to speak about. He told us that there is very little that he knows. He doesn't know God lives. He doesn't know Jesus is our Savior. He doesn't know the Book of Mormon is true or that this church is God's church. He does, however, believe these things, and that is enough for him (and, apparently, for the Lord, since he was called to be a stake president.)

Faith-promoting stories have really hurt my faith in miracles. I used to love to listen to any story about miraculous things happening, but because most of them are rumors, lies, made-up stories, I have turned into a bit of a cynic. In the Book of Mormon, the brother of Jared is blessed to be able to actually see Jesus. He is astonished, "struck with fear" at the experience. Jesus teaches the brother of Jared, telling him that no man had previously been given that privilege. The experience teaches us many lessons, e.g., we were created after the physical image of God, spirit bodies resemble spiritual bodies, etc. Why exactly was that man able to see Jesus?
