From the beginning, the LDS church has actively promoted self-governance. This self-governance comes from a few places: 1.) Revelation. Personal revelation is a huge factor in what makes our church unique. My favorite scripture mastery scripture in seminary Old Testament year was Moses 7:18 because I enjoy the idea of having Zion in a family situation. In my Book of Mormon class last semester the focus of discussions about Zion were exciting and new, but also fell into line with the way I like to think about Zion.
