"Types and Shadows: Imitations of Divinity”
Posted On 11/17/2009 00:00:37 by mlebroadbent

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Art on Brigham Young University campus. My class and I had the opportunity to view the “Types and Shadows: Imitations of Divinity” exhibition. The exhibition was remarkable and stunning. It was wonderful to see numerous depictions of spirituality in diverse artistic representations. My first thought was using shadows and types of artistic features to create art. This exhibit was excellent. Some of the works of art did not have any depiction of Christ so when... Read More

Recently in my American Government and Society class, we had the privilege to watch an edited version of the movie The Amistad. We have been studying the formation of the American Nation with a heavy emphasis on slavery and the role it played in that creation. I have loved the opportunity to study and better understand the social, economic, and governmental issues that slavery so powerfully impacted. It was very interesting to watch this movie once... Old Testament Exodus vs. Restoration Exodus
Posted On 11/10/2009 17:23:11 by mlebroadbent

The early saints of the Church went through a physical Exodus similar to the Old Testament Exodus. The comparison of the two is remarkable. Joseph Smith restored the Gospel and the Church originated in New York. The saints were then commanded by the Lord to leave New York. Over many years the saints had to travel and gather in Ohio, Missouri, and would later venture across the country to the west and settle in Utah. New York is a similar representation of that of Egypt when Moses convinced Ph... Read More
