King Mosiah really teaches us how to learn from the past in this chapter, and "and to look forward to do what will bring us peace..."
Even though he's speaking about choosing leaders to govern over the people, the principle is the same and can be applied to many different areas & circumstances of our lives. I'm not sure I can express in words how I feel about General Conference, but I'll try.
 
To have the privilege of watching live a Prophet of God, Twelve Apostles and other General Authorities, men and women, speak the Lord's will, counsel, exhortation, His concern, love, and encouragement for us, and actually feeling their personal concern and love for each one of us is more than amazing.
