Last Friday I had the opportunity of attending the 37th annual Sperry Symposium held at BYU. The first session I went to was given by J. Spencer Fluhman, and was about the problems that crept up during the restoration of the gifts of the Holy Ghost. As the New Testament shows, there were many visibly distinguishable gifts of the Spirit, such as speaking in tongues, healing, prophesying, etc. These gifts are wonderful, useful, and ess... During sacrament meeting today, Sister Paige gave a wonderful talk for Mother's Day. She read three stories. They were all very poignant, but the final... Read More
Beginning at conception and as an infant, we have no self, no complex perceptions, no beliefs, no conscious learning: our agency is innocent, unwritten. All of what we are granted as part of our mortal existence is brand new and is created literally from the interaction of the physical and environmental inheritances from our earthly parents. As time goes by and we grow as a young human, we will be given our self, our perceptions, our beliefs and our learning by our parents (and furt... Read More
