First Testimony
Posted On 09/28/2008 22:57:47 by HoosierGuy
The last week has been a rollercoaster for me.  I received a book that explains to me how to use the Atonement of Jesus Christ to overcome sins, temptations, bad feelings, depression, and other bad things.  As I was reading this book the last few days, I felt the Spirit lift me up higher and higher.  I felt very strong.  Then, Friday evening I read a few things on lds.net that depressed me.  Then my soul fell like a rock thrown off a skyscraper.  My soul plumme... Praying for a testimony

Often we Protestants, and especially we Evangelicals, criticize LDS for seeking a spiritual feeling whenever you want to know what is true.  "The Bible says, I believe it, and that settles it!" we like to exclaim.  However, I find this practice refreshing and biblical.  The most dramatic case in point is Acts 2.  Here are dozens of followers of the Way (Jesus) babbling and expressing great emotion, and 9AM.  Peter stands up and says, "THIS is THAT which was prophesie... Looking back though I know I was being ridiculous, I sat and listed who I’d spoken to, and who had spoken to me,... Read More

Posted On 09/04/2008 12:30:01 by Lamanite1
The Book of Mormon-- Richard Busman-- and Me-- pt. 2 We left off with an agnostic Bushman accepting a mission call to New England. Not being sure of his motivations he "went" without knowing beforehand if he was a believer.

"The mission president was J. Howard Maughan, an agricultural professor from Utah State and former Utah State and former stake president. In our opening interview in the mission home in Cambridge he asked if I had a testimony of the gospel. I said I di... Read More

1 in 247 chance or blessing?
Posted On 08/30/2008 18:14:37 by JHM-in-Bountiful
This is a supplement to the "Houston Temple / Small Things" testimony I posted on 8-29-08. http://www.lds.net/listing/view/id_488/title_ houston-temple-small-things/ As you know the Houston temple photograph appeared on my screensaver while typing my experience. The screensaver changes every 30 minutes. Today I counted a total of 247 photographs that are on my screensaver program. I'm convinced that the temple photo was a blessing/gift for posting the message. It came up at... Read More
