Book Of Mormon Movie
Posted On 01/08/2008 23:13:41 by Heather
Did anyone else ever see the Book of Mormon movie? I just wanted to see if John and I were the only two who laughed at all the parts that were suppose to be serious. Now when I read 1 Nephi, I find myself starting to giggle because I can see Nephi jumping out behind a pillar to tackle a guard. (And that's not even in the book of Mormon!) Or the part when Lehi reprimands Laman and Lemuel for tying up Nephi, and they just respond, "Sorry Nephi."

Maybe one day someone will make a more believable and dramatic Book of Mormon movie. I wouldn't even recommend seeing the comedy once.

I was in that movie.  Just as an extra.  And the sheep in the background were mine, and the one lamb that actually appeared on the screen.  I had fun working with the camels.  Laman and Lemuel were an absolute hoot in person.  Especially when they got behind the wheel of a car!  Talk about scary!

Quite by accident, I saw part(s) of it on TV the other day.  My first question: why is Nephi clean-shaven when that's not allowed.  You can only trim your beard.  And a lot of those costumes looked non-kosher to me.  You can't have two kinds of fibers in one garment and that punched leather and metal?  No way.  Over-all impression, why don't these people look and behave more like Jews?

The acting and the dialogue were just laughable.  If I wanted to keep any of my gentile friends from ever taking The Book of Mormon seriously, I'd just give them this movie.

How far into the Bk of Mrmn does that movie go that you are referring to?

Are there any sequels to it as yet?

If it is the one I am thinking about it has to do with an actor who played Lehi in sort of a strange way --as sort of a raving lunatic, is this

the same movie you are referring to?

I did like the Work and Glory series (Gerald Lund) they had a very believable Joseph Smith play the

part (excellent I thought) all 3 volumes of the Work and Glory DVD's, BillyG

Hahahahaha!  I thought maybe I was being blasphemous when I turned it off from being so disgusted, but yes, I laughed and guffawed!  My boyfriend immedietly laughed and said, "Drywall?"  It was hilarious.  It's just too bad that it was labeled "Book of Mormon".  Even Nephi had a good laugh over how he was portrayed!

I personally loved the paisley tunic Father Lehi wore. Who'da thunk paisley 600 years BC?

I saw the movie and talked to the director. I feel bad that a movie with that name was so poorly done. The acting was horrible (The best actor was the one who played Lemuel. Lehi was protrayed as a bafoon on the verge of alzheimers. It was sad. When I asked the director what background he had in theater or movie making, he said, I don't have any, my background is as a businessman. Who'd a thunk!

*sigh* Yeah, you could see a number of inconsistancies. When they arrived in the new world, for example, there was no ship anymore and they were dry as they came out of the ocean. Weird.

My sister was just telling me about the movie and how terrible it was. She is repenting for paying an admission to see it.

I told her she MUST find me a copy for Christmas now. I need to laugh! tongue.gif
