Ann Turns 100 Years Old

It is Ann’s 100th Birthday celebration tomorrow. She lives in the home that my mother died. The very first time I met Ann. I liked her spunky sprit. Oh sure, she had the obvious signs of old age, but the sparkle in her eyes when she smiled told that she knew the secret to living a long happy life.

She is always encouraging to those who are suffering and having a hard time. Her favorite thing to say to those complaining about life is, "Well, you have to do something. You just can't quit, because then you will die."

Then she gives you a cute smile that matches the sparkle in her eyes, and you know that she is right about living.

I’m glad I met dear Ann. She is one bright ray of sunshine that has come out of the otherwise sad last days of my dear Mom. By becoming acquainted with her special inner peace she helped me understand many of the joys of old age.

I hope that I can learn something from Ann’s good attitude for living before I get too old to remember who I am and where I’ve been. Oh, I suppose I’ll always understand where I’m going if I can continue to pray and keep a ready smile on my face.
