After I read the small pocket book explanation, The Greatest Thing in the World by Henry Drummond, I felt moved to express my feelings about this gift and what I feel is the greatest thing in the world. I realize that there aren't enough amazing words that man could write that properly describe the greatness of this gift from God, therefore I apologize for my limited vocabulary by not adding more to this Blog.Â
After reading and praying about the scriptures that I studied, I was able to submit this short addition to what I know is the greatest thing in the entire world.  As we read, ponder and pray about the scriptures, we may all gain a deeper understanding of this great gift from God. Through His holy words, He has opened up a way for us all to understand His great Love for each. Blessings, Gar
The idea for this Blog comes from the written material found in the Pocket Classic, The Greatest Thing in the World , Henry Drummond, James E. Pott and Co., 1890.

The Greatest Thing
Â
Christ-like love is the foundation or bedrock of all that is good in eternity. When we love others as God loves us, our faith will become stronger within and our hope that He will be merciful unto us and grant us blessings will strengthen. As our faith strengthens, our love for God increases and then love becomes a verb, which increases our desire to share love by serving others. The more we serve others the more Christ-like love we will be able to help others experience. The more Christ-like love that we share the stronger our desire will become to be obedient to all of God’s commandments.Â
The more obedient that we are the closer to perfection we will become. Christ has commanded us to "be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect" Matthew 5-48. . Perfection is only possible due to the Atonement and Grace of Christ and after all, we can do. This perfection is a two-step process; first, we must have a deep and abiding love for God and for others. Secondly, as we love more, our faith and hope will increase an intrinsic desire to be obedient to all of God’s commandments, and day by day, we will become as God is.
If we love our neighbor as ourselves and truly try to serve them, then we are serving God. As we share the L of Christ  or with others, our faith that a loving Father in heaven hears, and answers our prayers will increase. Christ and His Father are one in purpose, mind and personality, and they perfectly or unconditionally love us. John said that we love God, because He [Christ] first loved us. (1 John 4-19). When we share this love with others, we are showing our love for God. John 13:34-35. All we need to do is to share this love completely with others.
Having Christ-like love is similar to becoming one with God in one great amazing circle of His love. God is the pivotal axis in that celestial circle upon which all other heavenly virtues hang together. When we truly have Christ-like love then our faith is stronger and it is possible to master such heavenly qualities as patience, humility, charity, submissiveness, and a cheerful loving heart.
One of the greatest commandments He has given us is to love one another as He has loved us. As we experience some of life’s subtle lessons, we may learn that the world is not a playground, it is our schoolroom.  Life is not a holiday, but it is part of our education for eternal life. The one lesson that we could learn better is to love one another.
