Waiting for a Missionary
Posted On 07/22/2012 19:38:09 by etruhlar
Today the church has many missionaries volunteering 2 or 1.5 years of their life to the church. Before these missionaries leave for their mission they either brake up with their boy/girl friend or they make the decision to stay with that person and that person decides to wait for that person. Unfortunately, relationships are not always able to survive the time someone is out on a mission. However, because it is a small percentage of boy/girl friends being able to wait for their missionary does not give members of the church the right to discourage a missionary by telling them that their boy/girl friend will not wait for them. That puts more stress on the missionary and takes their focus off their missionary work. In addition that also puts added stress on their relationship (with the stress of the distance already). Lastly, if you are judging hat boy/girl friend without even thinking about it (if your are being the person who is discouraging the missionary). You are judging them because you just assume without even knowing them that they are not capable of waiting for that missionary. Therefore, it is not fair to anyone to tell a missionary that, "their boy/girl friend will probably not wait for them their who mission." Yes, you can have your views and opinions about it. Everyone is allowed that, thanks to our Heavenly father. However, remember those things the next time you feel the need to tell a missionary that. Finally, it is between the missionary and the boy/girl friend on what they decide. Whether it is to stay together or brake up. I personally know, being a girl waiting for my boyfriend while he is on his mission, that I would appreciate the support of family, friends, and ward members. I also know that my boyfriend who is on a mission would also appreciate support from members of the church who surrounds him. It hurts me to find so many people who are not supportive about this topic. So please, support those who are serving the church, because it is possible for people to wait for a missionary while they are on their mission.
