We Shall Not Perish
Posted On 07/24/2012 17:35:33 by Gargantuan

Greetings, This is a passage of scripture, that helped me today by strengthening my faith and perhaps it will be helpful to you as well.  Blessings, Gar,

Desire is a particle of faith that develops within us as we experience divine truth. It is like spiritual photosynthesis. The influence of the Holy Ghost, acting on the Light of Christ within every human being, produces the spiritual equivalent of a chemical reaction—a stirring, a change of heart, or a desire to know. Hope develops as particles of faith become molecules and as simple efforts to live true principles occur.  Kent W. Pearson of the Seventy Quorum

They Shall Not Perish!

As I pondered my purpose and mission in life, I thought to search the scriptures, particularly in the Book of Mormon from the book of First Nephi. I read where Lehi been warned to flee the city of Jerusalem and had just received a series of visions about the city of Jerusalem as recorded in the book of First Nephi. Lehi is very grateful for the tender mercies of God for warning his group to flee the great city. As recorded by his son Nephi in the book of First Nephi [verse 14],

And it came to pass that when my father had read and seen many great and marvelous things, he did exclaim many things unto the Lord; such as “Great and marvelous are thy works, O Lord God Almighty!  Thy throne is high in the heavens, and thy power, and goodness, and mercy are over all the inhabitants of the earth; and, because thou art merciful, thou wilt not suffer those who come unto thee that they shall perish!”

After I read this, I felt strengthened realizing that God is aware of my thoughts and concerns and I knew that He would provide a way.  Likewise, He will provide a way for all of His children to finish their Missions in life.
