That We May Not Weaken
Posted On 08/18/2012 22:40:09 by Gargantuan

This is a thought that I pondered today as I observed my precious house plant. Gar, "How often do we hear oppressed souls ask foolishly, “How could God do this to me?” when really they should be praying for strength to 'beareth' and 'endureth all things'."   Robert C. Oaks,

Spiritual Vitality

I have a nice indoor plant that has large dark green leaves with most turning toward the light source. These leaves are healthy and strong and add to the vitality of the entire plant. In the past, a few plant leaves have not turned toward the light source, and then they have withered and died. Before they withered, however, I tried to turn them toward the light. Some would be able to turn around while others would turn back and continue to turn away from the light. I felt helpless as I watched some of the once beautiful leaves turn pale, wither and die. Because I turned some of the wandering leaves toward the light source, I was, however, able to save the entire plant and enjoy its refreshing beauty.

In a way, our thoughts can be like the responsiveness of this plant. Our thoughts should be the kind that receives strength and vitality from God's Light. When our thoughts aren't as pure we can make them and we resist the influence of the Holy Ghost to help turn toward heavenly light as some of the healthy green leaves withered, so may our spiritual vitality weaken and wither.
