another poem I wrote
Posted On 02/23/2008 05:28:49 by Lolgirl
Under the willow tree

It happend like this long ago
Upon a sunny day
I wondered how it could be so
Alas he wouldn't say

I asked him why the world is 'round
He said the world is flat
I told him that it could not be
And said that,that was that

I told him of a joyous sound
He said it was the birds
I told him of a stereo
He remarked it was for nerds

He told me of a sunny day
He ventured past a stream
Indeed and that it was so blue
It must have been a dream

I told him of the story books
And remarked that how each page
Always seemed to captivate
Any reader,any age

He pointed to a willow tree
And told me how it sung
He pointed out the flowing leaves
That over water hung

He said that it told stories too
Of mystery's that unfold
He said that it told many things
Of people brave and bold

I told him of the telephone
And with a laugh he did remark
"When I want to send a message,
Why I simply use a lark."

He pointed out the funny bird
That very near us sat
It promptly gave a throaty sound
And settled on my hat

In spite of all our differences
The boy and I did bond
He showed me every little animal
Every sweet uncurling frond

We parted when the sun went down
With a wave and with a sigh
Indeed we went our seperate ways
But we never said goodbye

For I knew tomorrow I would rush
To meet him once again
He promised that he'd show me
The wily fox's den

He said that there were many things
That I had yet to see
We promised to meet everyday
Under the willow tree
