Utah Jazz fans disrespectful
Posted On 05/15/2008 18:18:24 by Steven22

What is going on the Utah Jazz fans being so disrespectful?  I have heard, read, and seen the Jazz fans being so disrespectful toward former Jazz player, Derek Fisher.  Yeah I know he left the Jazz for the Lakers but Fisher went to the Lakers so he could live in L.A. to help his daughter receive the best treatment for his daughters eye cancer.  I am not a Jazz Fan and certainly not a Laker fan but come on, Utah is supposed to be "Mormon country."  Aren't we all about family?  He was just looking out for his family and daughter.  It makes me so mad that the fans booed him and made not so good comments toward him during this playoff series.  I heard that one fan covered his eye (making fun of his daughters eye cancer) and started screaming nasty stuff toward Fisher.  I know that not everybody in Utah is Mormon but we need to be better people and cheer for him because he was doing what was best for his family.  And who cares if he is gone from the Jazz.  It looks like the Jazz are doing just fine without him.

Its about money. I used to play baseball earlier in my life. When money became the central focal point of the game, I lost interest.

First, it does seem a little fishy (I guess pun intended)  that he moved to LA when his Docter is in NY.  Also, last time I checked Utah has a pretty good cancer center.   With that all said, I don't understand why people feel the need to boo any player for this long.  Honestly I haven't seen it NEAR as much during the playoffs as it was in the regular season. And really thats why Koby beat the Jazz during the season just because he didn't know why they booed Fisher.  I have only heared it maybe twice, and even that isn't anything compared to what Koby gets everytime he gets the ball.

That probably was mostly my view point.  Then on the Radio Larry H. Miller talked about it more.  Talked about how Fisher brought it up. Gave a little bit more of the details.  Really with the type of cancer his daughter has, they usually end up just taking out the eye.  But a doctor in NY was going to try a different method that allowed the daughter to keep the eye.  It is expermintal and thus why it really is only done by this docter in NY.   Even Larry H. Miller said that he completly expected Fisher to find some team in the East and was kind of surprised about the move to LA.  But Miller has never questioned it.  Either Fisher did have this problem with his daughter and needed to get out of Utah or as Miller said If Fisher did use this as an excuse, then "shame on him."

What I find even more funny (and so far Utah, Houston, and LA fans have done this).  In each game, they start chanting "[insert visting team name] sucks".   Houston did it to the Jazz last year (so Jazz do it back)  they started it again this year, and now LA does it also.  I just don't get it?  Even more if you are going to say a team sucks, pick a good time to do it.  Don't start chanting the visting team sucks when your team is missing free throws.  Or even more don't chant it when visiting team is making there shots!   Its just plan dumb!

Agreed!  I am a Lakers fan-always have been, but this is not a Lakers/Jazz fan issue.  Thank you for your good thoughts Steven.  Respect.
