King Mosiah really teaches us how to learn from the past in this chapter, and "and to look forward to do what will bring us peace..."
Even though he's speaking about choosing leaders to govern over the people, the principle is the same and can be applied to many different areas & circumstances of our lives. He teaches us about people, to look back and learn from our experiences with people, situations, and especially our choices (Something we have direct control over), to analyze those things, and be wise in making choices about the people who will influence our lives which can be in many different ways.
I found the information extremely interesting and valuable as I've been thinking about some things I want in my life and how to make good choices about those things I want; it enlightened me about my past, people, situations, and especially the choices I've made and their consequences (Good & not), and is helping me learn from them, analyze them, and check for patterns or possibilites so that I can make the best choice, one that will bring happiness and peace to me and those around me.
I'm grateful for the Scriptures, and how Heavenly Father helps us understand them when we seek Him, how He help us liken them to our circumstances and lives.
