Choices
Posted On 06/13/2008 09:17:31 by BevBug

My heart is breaking for children that have died.
I live on the Nisqually river, and 2 children have died.  The mom made choices that where bad and the children pay the price.
The mother chose to take a ride from a stranger on a boat.  The stranger was drinking.  The mother got on the boat, and did NOT put a life jacket on either of her kids.
The boat hit something and tipped.  The mother lived, the stranger lived.  The other man in the boat is missing, presumed dead.  They found the 5 year old's body, and are still looking for the 9 year old.
This in and of itself is sad and heart breaking.  The mother that must now live with the knowledge that her bad choice killed her children.
But then this morning on the news we hear that the father of the 2 boys is serving our country in a war zone.  This poor father expects that he is the one that would die if anyone in the family would.  And yet today he is being told that his 2 children are dead.  That their mother made a choice that was wrong, and they are now dead.
My heart is breaking for this father, who has lost so much while serving so many.
My heart breaks for this mother, for making a choice that cost the life of her children.
My heart breaks for the stranger that tried to do something nice, and is now going to jail and facing man slaughter charges.
My heart breaks for the loos of life, for these two little boys that should be thinking of toys and daddy coming home.

Be safe! Remember every choice you make there is an outcome.  So make right choices.

Wow, what a terrible accident. You are so right about choice however.  We simply must remember we have only the right to choose not the right to choose the results.  Choice and accountability is a hard concept to learn, thank goodness we have a lifetime to learn it.  In this case the results were simply very hard to swallow.  And yes, it is heartbreaking.

The price is usually a eternal one if not removed by mortality first.
