Surviving divorce
Posted On 06/14/2008 16:11:36 by djhalb

I am in the middle of a divorce. My wife, who is not an active member and has opposed my membership in the church has left me and has taken with her our 8 week old baby for another man. She took the baby out of spite for me discovering her cheating. This is the scripture that I have been thinking a lot about: D&C 122:7

And if thou shouldst be cast into the apit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the bdeep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to chedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of dhell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee eexperience, and shall be for thy good.

I get choked up every time I read that scripture because I know it is intended for me as well.

I have never been married nore have I had children, YET MY HEART STILL FEELS. I'm saddened to know how much you must be hurting. You are not alone and you are in my prayers that much I can promise.

I am currently seperated from my husband and it is very hard. We have been together over 16 years. It's hard to see the good when things a so askew. I feel your pain. Some people do things for spite I hope in your case you can work out custody of your child. Remember that your babys best interest is whats most important now. Good Luck.

Ditto Cindylou remarks. You are right, the scriptures are met for you.

Our visiting teaching message this month talked about the pre-existance.  One of the things that I learned is that we were prepared for what trials we would have here.  You can handle this, you were taught and prepared on this trial.  It would be really nice however if we could REMEMBER what we learned.  Just know that you will be fine.  Draw nearer to your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  Heavenly Father must have wonderful blessings in store for you my friend.  Im so sorry for what she has done to you.  It seems to me that you should ask a lawyer if she can just take your child like that.  Im betting it wont last much longer with your wife and this other guy.  Its not all fantacy any more.  I assume they are playing house now.  Babies throw alot of stress into a romantic relationship.  If you ever need to vent, just write, and Im glad to talk.  I went through a divorse myself about two years ago.  I know how much stress your going through.  Keep the faith.
