"Coins or Stones"

Here I am again with yet another deep thought. Picture this... you are alone in the desert and a stranger comes up to you and offers you coins or stones...

Which do you choose?

I pondered this all the way home one afternoon and finally made my decision then I asked my sons which they would choose.

My oldest said "Coins!" because you can buy things you need.

My youngest said, "Stones!" I asked him why did he pick stones over coins and he said that coins would only be good for a little bit becuase they have to be given away to help you. Stones can be used for many purposes and you can keep them.

Good points!

My oldest then agreed and got excited about how to use stones. He suggested making slingshots and tools. He said it could be used to hold things down like a paperweight. My youngest suggested that coins can be helpful financially but they have to be used to purchase and if you are all alone there is no use for them.

HMM?? I also remember a scripture stating that you cannot serve two masters. You cannot worship God and money. So..my thought is.. Is the money representing Satan and the stones representing God and Jesus?

Afterwards when my sons had grown tired of the debate...I went to my jewelry box and removed a polished stone and amythest stone that I had been keeping for years. I gave my sons each a stone and said that they were my stones and I choose them over coins anyday!!

Comments and thoughts welcome.... hope to hear what you

think....

Funny thing: I know God has a sense of humor because everytime I pray for patience he sends me more patients.....

Stones...money cannot be spent in the desert. LOL But you are right, we cannot serve two GODs...for many who are approaching a 'foreclosure', the thing to remember, family is first and material things are last. Do not worry or be concern over your credit rating with the world but the credit rating with your FATHER over your family well being.
