Little things
Posted On 10/02/2008 13:15:48 by Aurorasungem

The little things of life are so small, but so important.  The blessings we have that we do not always see and appreciate, the small things that brighten lives and uplift, and those times and moments that surprize, startle and that everyone learns from.

Looking at life from a different perspective is a good thing.  How often do you take the time to stop, to look at what is around you?  Have you ever stopped to just look and listen to the wind in the trees, see the stars at night, see a sunset, walk through the forests or plains, and just realize what a wonderous creation this world is?

I have traveled a bit, and seen things from the boiling mud pots that splat and gurgle of Yellowstone park and the icy northern mountains of Montana, to the forested sometimes wild and stormy areas of Illinois, to the busy cities of the edge of California, to the hot dry but beautiful areas of texas.  Every place I go, there is always a new thing to be learned, new places to see, things I can learn from, and things that are both good and bad.

Out there are people who live scraping by on what little they can earn, others who have everything they could ever wish, people happy, people sad, people of all kinds, all walks of life and all different ways of seeing things and doing things.  It is amazing to me the kinds of things that come from times when they all work together for common causes.

The blessings we all have are many, health, a home, a place to go to worship, the blessing of having food, clean water, good clothes on our backs, and so many more it is hard to count.

We are coming up on the time of year too when so many do without.  Through no fault of their own, often families fall back on organizations like Helping hands, Deseret Industries, the salvation army, the Red Cross, and the various churches and organizations out there.  Often these groups are short on basic real food supplies like beans, rice, pasta, fish, meats and other produce.  Often they also need blankets, towels and other basic necessities as well.   During times like this where gas prices are rising, many people are being layed off and having severe troubles too.

I would encourage anyone who has extra this time of year or that has anything to spare to give what they can to help out in ways that they know are helping others.  Be wise and aware of scams, but please think of others as the holidays roll around this year.  Even if it is just volunteering to help stock shelves or pack suplies for others at places that do that kind of service for others, please try to help out somewhere.

It is the little things that can change a persons life for better or worse.  And by doing the little things to help get others back on their feet so that they can get going again it aids the whole community long run.  It takes so little time to take part of one day to give and help.  Lets keep those little things in mind as the holidays progress and keep everyone who is struggling in your thoughts and prayers, best of blessings,

Maraleh
