Today at church, the counselor in the Bishopric that was conducting bore his testimony, then before turning the time over to the congregation, he re-read the standard political letter from the First Presidency and reminded us that "if any of you are planning on making political speeches, this is not the place." There was a little snickering throughout the chapel, but then he sat down. Two of the first five people to get up talked about Prop 8, which annoyed me a little bit. For one thing, I live in Ohio. For another, I split politically with (I think it's safe to say) the majority of the Church. However, hearing people talk about this issue in Sacrament meeting where the Spirit was already present was a lot different, I found, than reading about it here, where things tend to get heated in debate.
Mostly, I'm just excited for Tuesday, and then for Wednesday when it's all over. :)
Did anyone else have "odd" meetings today?
