I have read several posts concerning modest swimwear. I believe in modesty and practicality.
For example, while swimming or getting and in and out of the water I appreciate wearing a "speedo" type brief swimming suit verses a trunk style swimming suit, I do so for the following reasons:
1. Having low body fat I get cold easily and wearing a "speedo" I do not get as cold because it retains less water.
2. I chafe much less with a "speedo" type suit.
3. I can move a lot better with a "speedo" stype suit because it traps and drags far less water and air.
I know many in our culture regard "speedo" type brief swimwear as indecent or even gross. Some advocate that women should wear swimwear not next to their skin and not wear two-piece suits.
Our culture generally has a double standard in that it is more acceptable for a women to wear swimwear next to their skin but not men; is there an aversion to the male form? I believe in modesty but also practicality. I would encourage men and women to compare swimming in and moving in and out of water wearing a form fitting swimming suit to a trunk style swimming suit.
Thank you for letting me express myself in this forum.
