Jenna awoke to the smell of delicious food cooking. Halve awake she made her way to the kitchen. She slowly took in the wonderful smells, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. As she rounded the corner, she snapped back to reality. There at the counter was Sorin and Sara Laughing and eating what ever had been made. Sorin noticed Jenna first. He excused himself from Sara with a bow and then hurried over to see Jenna.
"Oh Jenna I am so glad that you are awake." He grabbed her hand and guided her down the hallway. He spoke barley above a whisper. "I have a question to ask you?" He said.
Jenna yawned.
"Sure go for it."
"Why is it that Sara, who is most assuredly a woman, in both body and personality feels the need to dress in such a strange and masculine manner?" Jenna laughed out loud, and then regained her composure.
"Well no one has ever asked me that before. I don't know if I have an answer for you." They both glanced over at Sara who was pouring herself a glass of orange juice.
She had her ears stretched and wide plugs put in. The rest of her ears were pierced all the way up. She had her nose, tongue, eyebrow, and lip pierced. Plus to top it all off her hair was a short black buzz cut all over her head except for her long bright green bangs which she clipped out of her face with a juvenile butterfly clip.
They stood there for a moment watching until Sara waved at them to come and join her.
As Jenna sat down Sara pushed a plate of food in her direction.
"You should try this." Sara winked. "It is really good."
Jenna looked skeptical.
"Sara I have had your "really good" before, and trust me I think I will pass." Sara laughed.
"No, no silly. I didn't make it." She looked over at Sorin and winked. "Sorin did."
He looked away and blushed.
"It was the only way I could repay you for what happened early this morning."
Jenna looked at him in a quizzical manner.
"what happened early this morning?" Jenna wasn't sure that she wanted to know by the way he was acting.
Sara Began Laughing hysterically.
"What Happened?" Jenna asked again growing impatient.
"You see." Sorin began. "I was hungry, So I began rummaging through the closets for food and then-" Sara cut him off.
" And then I came up to him to ask him what happened, when the next thing I know there is an explosion of raw egg absolutely everywhere!" Sara now began laughing all over again."
Sorin felt guilty.
"She startled me, and I happened to be holding the eggs." He rushed on. "Anyhow Jenna I am so terribly sorry about it. I will do anything I can to repay you. Just please don't be mad." HE looked like he was frightened that Jenna might try to hit him. But Jenna only laughed right along with Sara.
"Mad? how can I be mad? If anything I am jealous that I didn't get to see the event first hand." She smiled and punched Sorin lightly on the shoulder. "Now let me try this food you have made.
She grabbed the plate and looked at it. A little dish containing what looked like oatmeal sat off to the side of a large plate. On top was a dollop of whipped cream, and fresh raspberries. To the side of the oatmeal was a pile of crispy light wafers of some kind, and a stem of grapes.
"It looks wonderful." She said, as she took her first mouthful of the oatmeal. Sorin looked at her with anticipation of approval, and Sara had the same look.
Jeana smiled as she swallowed and reached for a second bite.
"This is amazing, but how did you know to use the stove, and all the other modern things?" Jenna kept eating as she listened to what Sorin had to say.
"Well you see the elements of the earth are a base form of magic them selfs. And although I am not very good at controlling magic as a wizard, I am very good at conversing with magic at it's base level." He smiled.
Sara Laughed.
"Yeah right! I told him how to use everything, but The cooking he did All by himself."
Sorin frowned.
"Well although the stove did not tell me how to work it. The food in it's base form told me how to prepare it." Sorin glowered at Sara.
Sara Laughed.
"So what he is trying to say is, bad wizard equals good cook." She smiled then began starting a load of dishes.
"Wait!" Jenna said. "You know that he is a wizard, and you are okay with that?" Jenna was amazed that Sara had taken the news so nonchalantly.
Sara rinsed a dish and put it in the dishwasher before answering.
"Well I guess when you have a dozen eggs explode right in your face, not to mention every nook and cranny of the kitchen the only explanation there possibly could be is magic." She finished putting the last dish in the dishwasher, then headed off to the front door. "I got to leave for work now, and what a long day it will be too." She winked. "And don't worry you two. Your secret is safe with me." She took her coat and purse off of the coat rack. "See you later, and thanks for breakfast Sorin." Then Sara shut the door and left. two seconds later the door opened again and Sara popped her head through the crack.
"Oh by the way Jenna I am so sorry about the message on the message machine, if you want to talk when I get home I understand."
The door shut and Jenna went to go check the messages. Sure enough there was one for her.
"Hello Jenna, this is Mike calling." The was static silence. "That's right your boss..that mike! As I am sure you can guess I heard about your little episode last night. Well let me tell you something I don't take very kindly to my employees going stark raving mad on my watch!" Jenna could just see him loosening his tie as he got a little red around the neck. "You see the real problem is I don't want anything remotely resembling a nut case working for me, but... I CAN"T FIRE YOU!" There was some heavy breathing. "I already checked. If I fire you then you can sue me. If I don't fire you the alternative is that you must; take from two weeks to six months paid leave until you are deemed sane by a psychiatrist. You are not allowed back into the work premises until you do so, and if you are deemed sane you can come back to work. But If you a deemed to be crazy then I have every legal right to let you go from my employ." HE paused and Jenna could only assume he was taking a drink before continuing on.
"Listen Jenna I don't want to seem cruel, but the truth is if you do come back to work for us there can not be one little slip up, and considering I could Hire a talking Barbie doll to do your job finding an excuse to fire you will be that much easier. So your first appointment is three days from now with a doctor whitzenbarrle." Mike continued on with the details of her appointment, but jenna just sank into the couch and groaned.
"Because of you I may loose the best Job ever, and my boss thinks I am crazy, and I have to see Dr. whats'his'barrle, and I have no clue what I am going to do till I can get back to work!" She threw a toss cushion to the floor.
Sorin sat down next to her.
"why are you here anyway, wouldn't you have rather stayed in the castle?" Jenna asked disgruntled.
"Well the simple answer is, you are the one who set me free and broke the spell. I am tied to you by magic, and I don't know when that tie will be severed but until then I have no choice to be close to you."
Jenna groaned again.
"So I have to prove that I am not crazy while I have a wizard glue to my hip, this should be easy." She said sarcastically.
Sorin frowned.
"I am sorry to have caused you such trouble Jenna, and if I could leave and make your life easier I would, but I simple can not." Sorin sighed.
"Well what do you want to do in the meantime?" Jenna asked as she turned her head to look at him.
"The more important question is what do I have to do?" He looked deeply into Jenna's eyes and said in a tone more serious then Jenna possible from him said. "The next question is would you be willing to help me?"
