The last of the magic

Jenna and Sorin sat across from each other on the bus.  They were headed not back to the castle but instead to the castle grounds.  There was a Forrest not to far off, and that is where They were headed.
As they sat in Silence Jenna looked over at Sorin and silently laughed.  He was gazing all about him with awe and amazement.  The things Jenna took for granted he found ingenious.   Jenna went over the discussion That they had before now in her head.
"The next question is.  Would you be willing to help me?"  HE wasn't smiling, but looking at her seriously.
"well that would all depend." She started laughing, but stopped when she noticed that he was not going to change his mood.
"Jenna.  When I entombed myself in this spell, things happened.  The spell was almost like it's own entity, and it knew what it was doing.  But it was like I was part of it So I also know what it did.  Dose this make any scene?"  He waited for Jenna to respond.
"Kind of but what dose it have to do with me?"  Jenna was twiddling her thumbs, a nervous habit when she felt unsure of situations.
'Well you see." Sorin said.  "As you know the king engaged in a war against magic, and he may very well have won."  He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"For all I know I may be the only magic there is left on this planet, and if that is the case what a pitiful way to end it all."  He stood up and paced the floor.
Jenna felt she should wait and let him talk till he asked for her advice or opinion.
"Don't you see Jenna, If there are more beings that wield magic trapped like I was then it is my duty to set them free.  You have no idea what it was like Jenna, there is so much more to it then the dreams you have been getting.  All I could do was nothing but hide in a spell that went wrong."  He sat back down and Jenna felt she should talk now.
"Sorin, how did you know about the dreams? in fact how do you even know my name? I have told you nothing about me, and yet you seem to just know.  How is that possible?"  She looked at him needing an answer, and for some reason she felt like he could look into her mind and read her Evey thought, and this made her nervous.
Sorin gently reached over and grabbed her shoulders causing her to look at him.  When she tried to look away he wold follow her gaze.
"Jenna."  When she  continued to avoid his gaze he became firmer in his voice.  "Look at me Jenna."  She reluctantly brought her gaze up to match his.  "Jenna, the spell, I don't completely think it was of my own doing, and if it was then I am lucky I am not dead, but it knew what it was doing.  We are connected, when you dreamed it was partly my memories, but also part of the memories of the castle itself.  I don't know why it connected to you, but for some reason you are a part of this."  He let go of her shoulders now but kept her gaze.  "And I can't go anywhere with out you because right now we are tied."  He finally turned his gaze away from her.
"Sorin, I don't know if I can help, but if you need me to then I will come."  Sorin reached over and hugged her.
As he spoke he continued his stare  "Jenna I know this may seem like it doesn't involve you, and maybe it doesn't, but even if there is nothing more you can do then keep me company that is more then enough."
As Jenna thought of the last statement Sorin made, and the hug off appreciation he gave her she got warm all over.  She looked at him one more time and she swore if he could stick his head out the window like a dog to get a better view her would.  She smiled.  He was a true and sincere friend and somehow she knew he would do all in his power to protect her.
The bus stopped, and Jenna called for Sorin to come with her.  They were back at the castle grounds where they had met only this time they were going into the Forrest.  Jenna felt uneasy, and alarmed.  She had always been a little bit nervous about forests, but this one in particular always held a feeling of dread and doom.  Sorin must have noticed her apprehension.
"Don't worry Jenna, I have had many fond memories of this place.  IT is almost like home." And with that he offered his arm to Jenna, and she gladly took it.
The sun came out from behind a cloud warming the chill out of Jenna, and melting away almost all of the fear from Jenna's mind.  They were walking arm in arm for about twenty minutes when Sorin let go and walked ahead of her for a bit.
"Do you feel that Jenna?"  HE sped his arms out and closed his eyes.  "Do you smell that?" His voice felt like it was a million miles away.  "The magic!  there is some left, and we can't be far."  Jenna felt strange. For even though she could see Sorin, and hear what he was saying it was like her ordinary senses were muffled, yet heightened at the same time. The heightend senses were not to what was going on around her but something she couldn't identify.
"Your Majesty, we have to stay and fight!"  Angered words from the past drifted to her ears clear as bells.
"Oh lagorian, I would not have my people suffer.  Weather we fight or not we die!  The only chance we have is to hide ourself beyond the realms of his rules. Even now the week, and young ones feel the suffering in full force!  Lagorian, if we fight we perish for that is magic law."  The person referred to as Majesty looked kindly upon his friend, but his friend looked away.
"I refuse to sit and do nothing while magic is being swept clear off the face of the earth, by hiding we are cowards.  If you tell me I cannot fight then I shall piece my very heart, for I would rather die a hero the live to feel cowardice."
The king sadly smiled at his friend and spoke to any who would hear.
"All those who wish to stay and fight look to Lagorian for he shall guide you, but you must know that death is promissed should you take this road.  And all those who wish to seek shealter must follow me now, for King Mourgustines armies are fast upon us."  He gestured the way for those who sought refuge to go, and clasped Lagorians arm.
"Fight well, and may your death not be in vain."  He turned to go but Lagorian called to him.
"Take my son." The son galred a the other elf.
"No father I will fight with you! The king is a coward.  I will not hide!"
Lagorian looked down upon the face of his young son with the tender love of a father.
All of a sudden A cry of anguish not only came from those who had not yet left for shelter, but from Jenna as well.
She screamed a sound of agony, then she grasped her stomach and sunk to the ground.
Sorin turned and ran to her.
"Jenna?" He said quickly.

She let out another scream.
"JENNA!
She just lay there convulsing in pain.  Screaming.
"RUN!  Run my child!"  She screamed aloud then she grabbed her stomach and groaned in pain as sorin sat there helplessly not knowing what was happening, or what he should do.
All around Jenna Warriors both elfin, and human came crashing down upon each other.  What the humans did not know was that the elves suffered intense pain from the inside out with each blow they dealt, and Jenna felt it right along with them.  If this did not stop soon she knew she was going to die.  She screamed with the all her might.
"SORIN!! HELP ME!!"
Sorin prayed that he could make something, anything work.  HE placed his hands on her face.  Please, please wake up. He thought.

The visions that had plagued Jenna stopped as thought of Sorins childhood played out in Jenna's mind. HE was a young boy and away at school. Nothing he ever did turned out right. This one particular moment The whole class had gone before him and he was last. As he made his way to the front of the room. He could hear them whispering that he would fail again or make a huge mess, or worse. He puffed out his chest and pretended he didn't care. The task was simple enough. Conjure up a thought bubble of a person you idolize, have it remain at the front of the class explaining your thoughts and facts that you had acquired about that person. They hada time limit of five minutes.

He raised his wand and the whole room gasped in anticipation of the worst. Suddenly everyone was laughing. Sorin had not conjured a thought bubble, but was now sporting his grandmothers floral hat. He had worked so hard on this project. He wanted to show his fellow students what an amazing grandmother he had, so he began speaking.

“My grandmother Sharon was a thief for a group of wizard mercenaries, When she was younger-” But Sorin never got to finish his presentation as some kid cut him off.

“I bet she was as stupid as you!”

Everyone laughed, even the teacher couldn't hide his snicker. Sorin went and sat back down. After everyone had left the class he stayed and practiced over and over again, till someone came and told him it was time to go home.

Sorin could feel Jenna calming down so he took his hands from her face.

“Jenna?” Sorin wiped the sweat from off his brow.

Jenna eyes opened.

“Are you alright?” Sorin helped her to sit up. “What happened?”

Jenna threw her arms around Sorin.

“There was a battle here. It was so terrible. The pain that the elves suffered. Sorin I think they might all be dead!” She felt week and vulnerable.

Sorin just let her stay in his arms until she finally released from his grasp.

Sorin wiped the tears from her face. “If I know the elven king of the fir trees they found a way. We will find them”

Sorin helped Jenna to her feet.

“We can rest if you need?” Sorin was worried over what had happened to Jenna and he didn't want to to push her.

“No.” Jenna shook her head. “We must find out if any survived. They need to know it's safe now.”

They walked slowly for another hour, and now she could see what Sorin meant. In the forest everything seamed so alive and new. There was a magic here all it's own that made this place special. Sorin quickly bent Down and examined a group of you fir tree saplings.

“Jenna I think this may be it.” He grabbed Jenna's hand. “Come on lets go.”

They took two steps into the clearing and were suddenly surrounded by a thick heavy mist. Sorin sped up still holding Jenna's hand. He was so excited to have found what he was looking for that he didn't look back to see Jenna. She was no longer walking but was floating in the dense fog as sorin pulled her along. The moment they had entered this realm the atmosphere filled her lungs, and she couldn't breath or talk, or anything. One they had entered the clearing Sorin let go of Jenna's hand and rushed ahead.

“Jenna they are here I know they must be.” He turned back to Jenna to find that she had collapsed on the ground. He rushed over to her. She wasn't breathing.

“Help!” Sorin hollered. “Not again.”

He rushed towards the tree crying for help. A thin beautiful woman with long white hair, and a flowing dress came out from behind the large Fir tree that stood in the middle of the barren clearing.

“Layetha!” Sorin pleased. “You must help her! She is dying.”

Layetha walked over to where Jenna lay in a heap.

“Is she important to you Sorin.'' Her words laced were with disgust.

“She is important to all of us not just me!” He was desperately trying to remain calm.

“And what if I said no. What if I wanted to watch you suffer?” She spat.

“Then we shall all die, every last bit of magic will be sucked out of this world, And after that the world will have no more reason to live and she shall die along with us.” A tall willowy man came up behind them and gently moved Layetha out of the way.

He stooped down low and placed his hands over Jenna's mouth. Whispering a incantation blue light shone from his hands. Jenna took a huge breath for air, then resumed breathing Normally.

He picked Jenna up who was still unconscious and handed her gently over to Layetha.

“Take her to the guest room. Watch over her and tend to her needs. If she should arise make sure she has food and drink.” He kept his eyes steady on the Jenna to make sure she was alright.

“But father I-”

“Layetha, do as I have said.” Layetha turned to go, but her father spoke once more. “And Layetha, we shall talk later.”

As soon as his daughter disappeared behind the tree The man turned his attention to Sorin.

“I knew you had not perished.” HE clasped Sorin a firm brotherly hug.

Once released Sorin spoke.

“Will Jenna BE okay?” fear crossed his brow.

“Jenna, will be better then okay. She just needs rest.” He smiled and them placed a hand on Sorins shoulder. “But for now you and I must talk, there is much we need to discuss.”
