How i joined the church
Posted On 04/01/2009 03:44:36 by jonathan76

i joined the church when i was 22, the reason i joined was clear i loved heavenly father so much and Jesus christ and i was searching for something but at that time i did not know what. Back in 1999 My grandfather who raised me with my grandmother from a young baby died suddenlyon the very night i took out my now wife on our first date, and i was with him when he passed away i was very clode to my grandfather and found it quite hard to take.

One day when we had just moved in to our first flat/appartment i was at work and my wife caroline was just home from work we where not married then, but anyways as she was getting dinner ready two missionaries called to the door as i was not in they could not enter but caroline asked them to call back later.

Later that day i just got home from work and for some reason me and my wife were arguing over something and the argument got very heated at one point plates, knives and other items went flying accross the room when all of a sudden the door rapped it was the missionaries and at that point we had just calmed down but when the missionaries walked into our home a quiet reverence came over us and the room was filled with the spirit. We took the discussions after the second we prayed to ask if it was true and we felt the spirit confirm to us that it was indeed true, we got the rest of the discussions in one week and where baptised on 16 may 2000.

From the time we got baptised we knew the church was true and lived every moment we could in the church doing callings etc but for some reason back in 2003 we went inactive and moved areas but we realise now that it was not right to go inactive so we returned and now we love the church and it's teachings.

I want to say that i know the church is true and that joseph smith was a prophet and that Thomas S Monson is a prophet of the lord and i believe the book of mormon to be the truest word of god.  amen
