For investigators

I would like to dedicate this blog to anyone who is investigating the church. I still remember my first encounter with the missionaries. I was 15 yrs old and a boyfriend of mine had just joined the church. Let me tell you a few things about this boyfriend though. He was a sweetie but he got his kicks from dropping acid, stealing  cars he once even stole a virgin Mary statue from my neighbors yard. I gave him grief for it but he did it anyway. We eventually stopped talking for a while and parted ways.

A few months later he calls me and says I have something I want to share with you. I said okay and ta...da.... I'm introduced to mormonism.

Now at first i thought okay ya'll are weird. Then that changed when i seen the changes my friend had made in his life. He was by all accounts a different person.  He even returned my neighbors statue and apologized to her. So I started thinking wow, if this faith can make a persons life change so drastically I wanna be a part of it to. I want to learn about it. So thats exactly what I did. I started taking the lessons, praying about it and really thinking about wether or not I should join. I was raised baptist and much of our doctrine even as a small child just never made sense. Joining the church was not a desicion I made lightly. But it just all seemed to fit, like someone had finally provided me with the truth. So, reluctantly, my parents consented for me to join as long as I still believed in Jesus Christ as my savior.

Then a while later  I went inactive for quite sometime. I left home at 16 and didn't use good judgement. I married at 19 to a non-member. We have had a wonderful life but something was missing. Then one day some missionaries stopped by. I was soooo excited. I had been wanting to go back to church but was embarressed by my inactivity for so long.

My husband beleived in God but never went to any church because he did not agree with their doctrine. Then something amazing happened. My husband started taking the missionaries lessons. It all made sense to him. This church was the true church. It took him a little over a year to commit. He knew he would be making a  lifestyle change. At the time I was working on sundays and we really needed the income. He started praying about what he should do. Then out of the blue he tells me that he has prayed about it and that if my job had to have me on Sundays to just quit.I thought he had lost his mind. We were already struggling, but I listened. I quit my job, my husband was baptized along with my oldest daughter. The other 2 were not old enough yet. My husband has now been a member for 2 years. We are going to be sealed this summer. And to top it off we never missed the money from my job. Somehow the money was always just there.

SO, for anyone struggling  with this decision about joining the church, I want you to know this gospel is true. It can change your life it ways you didn't think were possible. Your blessings await you.Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and Thomas S. Monson is now a prophet of God. I hope you will find the answers you are looking for.

Conversion is a lifelong process and all of us will be there cheering you on all the way.
