Sad to Glad in an Instant
Posted On 10/26/2009 23:20:59 by Gargantuan

We may not be able to climb the tallest mountain, but all have been given a mountain of blessings in life to appreciate. Thinking about these can help us over the daily hardships that can challenge our best intentions. Awareness of these blessings can bless a life beyond measure.

Life's Tiny Delights

Many of us may miss out on some of life's biggest prizes. The Pulitzer, Nobel, Oscar, Tony, and Emmy awards are a few examples. But, we’re all eligible for life’s tiny delights. Some of these pleasures may be as simple as a pat on the back, a kiss behind the ear, a four-pound trout, a bright full-moon, an empty parking space, a crackling fire, a great meal, a kind word, a glorious sunset plus hot soup and cold Rootbeer. Don't fret about partaking of life's grand awards. Enjoy its tiny delights. There’s plenty for all of us.

Hardship may throw us into the middle of a deep well of sympathetic self-pity by letting our thoughts dwell on all we've missed. Getting busy physically [just out of breath] and then by quickly taking time to appreciate all we haven't missed can take us from sad to glad in an instant. Not only do we immediately feel better; the energy around us changes, as well. In a very real way, our sincere expression of gratitude makes the world a better place to be for all.
