how much he cared.

I think section 42 of the Doctrine and Covenants is another intense revelation. Its intensity is defined by the seriousness of the commandments and how they affected the saints. It instates numerous laws that will govern the saints, especially as they are growing and expanding throughout the US. What is even more incredible is the precision, the specificity of the commandments. For example, the lord is very straightforward when he speaks of ethics and values that the saints should follow- regarding murder his attitude is very direct, he tells you not to kill, but if you do it, then you won’t be forgiven, as simple as that. I like how all things are straightforward with Heavenly Father, most things are. For me that is an important part of understanding things and I feel that this was important when directing the saints at the time since all of this was new to them.

We must remember that this revelation is very crucial to the organization of the church, especially in regards to the time it was written. This can be seen through the laws of consecration given to the saints. This law helped the saints in Zion support each other in times of financial straits, as well as expand Zion. Like the revelation given in section 25, section 42 is meant to instruct and guide the saints. This revelation is truly another manifestation that the church of God is true. Why? Because it shows the lord taking care of his children by giving them advice and council as how to be faithful members of his church. He did not leave them in their times of peril, but helped the saints get through them.
