Christ Led The Way

It has been hard watching MGH age this past year. This morning I found myself thinking about how Christ is the exemplar in all things. What stoutness of heart it must have taken for him to endure Gethsemane where he, sinless, assumed the burden of all the sins and sorrows of mankind so that the scale of justice might be balanced. Having done that he then allowed himself to be placed on a cross where he was completely helpless as he underwent the last great challenge of his life—to trust so completely in his Father that he gave up his life knowing that it was not the ending but rather allowed him to open the door that led into eternity, not just for himself alone but us as well. So then do we follow in his steps as we surrender our will to that same Father. Enduring the loss of of our physical abilities with patience and understanding so that we too might also walk through that opened door to return home. Christ led the way—we but follow.

“Getting old isn't for sissy's.â€

Said the old woman.

I smiled at her

To show that I understood her plight

As I swiftly passed her by

Secure in my youthful stride.

I hadn't a clue.

It isn't easy to be trapped in a body

age'd beyond repair.

Helpless.

Once strong arms that cared for others

Idle now, dependent.

With 'naught but faith to cling to,

Awaiting what comes next.
