LDS Church reminds public: Mormons are not polygamists

www.abc4.com - SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - For the third time this month, the LDS Church is reminding people that Mormons are not polygamists.

In response to continuing worldwide media coverage of the FLDS sect in Texas, the LDS Church is again drawing a distinction between what it believes and what the FLDS believe.

Both on its website and on videos, the LDS Church is trying to distance itself from the situation in El Dorado.

And it is doing so using increasingly stronger language. In one video, Mike Otterson, a spokesperson for the LDS Church says, "We don't look like these people, we don't dress like these people, we don't worship like these people, we don't believe the same things as these people and the term Mormon should never, ever be used to describe these polygamous sects."
