Preisthood Commemoration Celebration

A commemoration of the revelation extending the priesthood to all worthy males, which occurred on June 1, 1978, in the Salt Lake Temple will be held on Sunday, June 8, in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Starting time for the meeting will be annnounced later. The revelation was ratified and announced on June 8, 1978.

A member of the First Presidency will preside at this meeting, and other general authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be present. During the celebration, the Church will present a short video commemorating the momentous revelation. The video will include interviews with several Genesis members as well as other African-American Latter-day Saints.
