I found an interesting blog that confirms what I've believed about Nephi and his knowledge of worldly things (Read my previous post with a link to an article 'Nephi, A Universal Man'). I've always believed that he accompanied dear ol' dad, who probably did his fair share of trading on many expeditions in and out of Jerusalem. I believe Lehi was a trader and merchant and passed on much of his knowledge of fine gold, precious steel, fine brass, silver, etc and even metallurgy. Perhaps they made ornaments to trade with and had a successful business? Lehi did own many precious things (1 Ne. 2:4).
