Your post caught my eye, and I was dumbfounded at the writer's lunacy, so much so that I am compelled to comment. There are some "red flags" that, when used to demonstrate how severe a problem is, are always an indication the writer is an emotional overreactionary.

The most common red flags are "Stalin," and "Hitler."

Quote:
. . . this Stalin-style internal passport will be an American reality. But your government will have _more_ control over you than Stalin ever dreamed in his most violent, vicious, anti-freedom dreams.
Who wrote this slop?

To compare this “ID card” to Stalin’s horrific torture, terror and murder of tens of millions of people is obscene. It is also ignorant beyond belief.

Again, TENS of MILLIONS of people were murdered by this madman. People under Stalin’s rule were so terrified of ending up in his torture chambers they would actually turn in their own family members, knowing there was no guilt, but that it was the only way to save not only their own lives, but their children’s as well.

Have you ever heard of the “Lubianka”? It was the Stalin’s main prison and his favorite torture chamber. People were literally thrown onto steel-pointed barbs and died hanging from them at Lubianka. In fact, Stalin hired his most sadistic “comrades” to run Lubianka, only to murder them after a time.

Have you ever heard of Stalin’s gulags? His exiles? His purges?

And you believe this writer’s insane hyperbole about Stalin is equal to a federal ID card?

Quote:
What do you think my brothers and sisters, are we headed for a police state?
No, we are not. The card already exists. It is your SS# combined with your driver’s license info combined with everything else the government already knows about you.

I am not saying you should not express your opinion; in fact, I appaud it. I certainly can understand concern about the card, especially with its civil liberties conflicts.

However, any opposition paper, or informational e-mail should be written in a logical, natural and credible manner. It should never be littered with overeactions and emotional lunacy.

My final advice: Do not ever believe someone who resorts to Stalin or Hitler to prove a point. There is no comparison, and it is ultimately insulting to the millions and millions of people who lived through the horrors of that madman, every single day of their lives.

There is no correlation whatsoever, and it is a sign of stupidity. Sheer stupidity.
