A Christian went to visit a prophet. While the prophet quietly served tea, (herbal tea), lol, Christian talked about truth. The prophet poured Christian’s cup to the brim, and then kept pouring. Christian watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. “It’s overfull! No more will go in!” Christian blurted. “You are like this cup,” Prophet replied. “How can I show you truth unless you first empty your cup?”

"We cannot learn anything if we already feel that we know."

"Preconceived ideas and prejudices always prevent us from seeing the truth."

"Sometimes we have to unlearn before you can learn."

"Even though we may be full of knowledge, we should always be open to the fact that there is still more to learn."

"Sometimes another person has to catch us with our guard down in order to teach us something."

If were too intellectualized about ANY subject, often we will miss the boat."

"I would tell this story to anyone who believed something about me that was untrue."

"Christian isn’t really looking for truth. His prejudices are preventing him from seeing clearly. This is what Prophet is trying to show him."

Note: This wonderful object lesion is not my original work and neither is it the original story. I adapted this story to bring my point home.

What a powerful story to teach us one thing. Humility is the empty cup all of us need to become teachable and pride is the cup that will forever keep us living in a box that we can never break out of even if we wanted to.

P.S this will be my last post on this thread. I have said what I have said. It’s all there in pretty pink for you to read at anytime you wish to do so. My only regret is what this post could have been.

Love Leeann
