2 Nephi 12:22

22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?
Quotes for Discussion
The wicked have always entered into compacts and alliances designed to protect them in their frauds, crimes, or secret machinations. Isaiah warns that such man-made citadels of security will mean nothing in the hour of God’s judgment….Mankind is never more than a breath away from death, and therefore any institution of security which depends upon man can also disappear in an instant. The only sound security is living so that we can enjoy the eternal blessings and security of a loving Heavenly Father.
W. Clean Skousen, Isaiah Speaks to Modern Times [Salt Lake City: Ensign Publishing Co., 1984[, 160
“Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils”
In other words, cease relying on man, who received his life, the breath of his nostrils, from God (see Moses 3:7). Rely instead on God, the giver of life. The footnote for this verse (Isaiah 2:22) in your LDS Old Testament says, “Cease depending on mortal man; he is of little power compared to God.”
John Bytheway, Isaiah for Airheads, p. 76
