Hey Leeanntheone I think your concern is real but your approach is all wrong. Emails like this get spread around the internet all the time. I think posting links to news articles from sites like cnet, cnn, etc... might get more peoples attention. Below I posted some links for those interested. I personally like the one from Cnet. It is a good FAQ on the Real ID. What it is and what it isn't.
Also for those of you that are interested in technology I posted
this thread about how insecure the RFID technology (the technology behind the Real Id) really is. It is easy to hack and there is info all over the internet on how to do it. It really does create a risk of increased identity theft. I think that is the part that scares me the most.
Of course there are other things to consider as well. Like the fact that the Federal Government is forcing the states to adopt this plan and forcing the states to pay for it themselves. Then if the states refuse the Federal Government has threaten not to let that states residence board a plane or enter a Federal Building. But... that is probably a topic for another discussion.
