Additionally: U.S. to present U.N. resolution condemning Russia: WASHINGTON: The United States will offer a U.N. Security Council resolution later on Sunday condemning Russian military action against Georgia as unacceptable, a U.S. spokesman said. The spokesman told Reuters: “We will offer a resolution today that makes clear that the Russian actions in Georgia are unacceptable to the international community.” (A later story indicates the parties were not able to come to agreement.)
A rather meaningless gesture considering that China and Russia will merely veto it. There will be no US sanctions on Russia and no real punishments, nor should there be. The EU should also be careful since Russia can merely start selling its energy resources to China.

As for the Georgian president, I guess he is learning that you don't kick a bear in the groin and run behind the big guys and expect them to fight the bear for you. Russia has the capability to eradicate the Georgian military, plain and simple.

Also, if the original news reports of Georgia leveling civilian areas are credible, and reports of snipers taking aim at civilians, then Russia is as justified going into Georgia as General Pershing was in going into Mexico to try to track down and punish Pancho Villa.
