This is going to sound bad (and
politically liberal), but pray for the mother as well. She, most likely, is a victim as well. I don't like the cops or DCFS, but they are important in cases like this. The child needs help, but so does the mother. DO NOT forget her in your prayers, forgiveness is possible, but the path is filled with the thorns of social condemnation and personal guilt . . . she needs help, too.
