I saw the article about the school a few days ago.

I think they should pay attention to the students choice. They had the students go to all the trouble to vote. If they didn't want the kids input they shouldn't have asked for it.

Decades ago when Woods Cross High was new, I was in the first class. We only had 9th and 10th graders the first couple of years and then we were sent to Viewmont or Bountiful High. But what I remember most about my time at Woods Cross is that we voted for colors and a mascot. Our choices were Red, White and Blue with Rebels and Orange, Brown and White with Wildcats. Red, White and Blue with Rebels won hands down in the student vote. It was a patriotic. I remember discussing the name Rebels and identifying with the Founding Fathers of the USA.

The School Board, School District, and I don't remember who else weighed in, felt we were being Rebellious and that the name Rebels would make us more so rebellious. They ignored the vote and Woods Cross ended up being Red, White and Blue Wildcats. HUH? Everyone knows the Wildcats are orange brown and white. And the School is Orange and Brown. What is sort of funny is when someone finds out I was part of that first class they always ask how Wildcats got to be red, white and blue. LOL
