It's like trying to keep a duck wet, just ain't worth it. You only fuel the fire and the contention, so which is worse...the fact that they believe wrong things about us, or the fact that a mormon comes along wanting to discuss how their views are wrong and having every one of those discussions turn into a big contentious pot?? You can't please everybody, you can't make Orthodox Christians become Mormon by trying to respond to a bunch of posts, so why put yourself in that situation?

We know that everyone will have the opportunity to accept the Gospel. That includes Orthodox Christians. You can't convert them, only the Spirit can. And I most definitly did NOT feel the spirit on that board you posted, even though you are TRYING to do good, it really just causes more contention. Most "anti's" are anti because of 1 of 3 reasons:

1: They used to be LDS, somehow got "offended" and they left.
2: They've been brainwashed by their preacher
3: They've got nothing better to do with their time.

I live in the Bible Belt. LDS is a minority religion around here. But ya know, when I meet someone and religion comes up and I mention that I'm LDS almost EVERY SINGLE person I've EVER met has said "Oh wow, you're not as bad as my preacher/pastor/crazy southern baptist aunt made Mormons out to be!" Doesn't mean that people instantly become converted, but when they see how I live my life, how I live my religion, they come to respect the church and dismiss the anti rhetoric that they may hear or come across.

We are specifically discouraged by the Breathern to avoid anti-mormonism. I've heard so many talks where we've been told that we cannot feel the Spirit appropriately when we delve into the anti-mormon arena, even if it's with good intentions such as what you originally stated.

Join an uplifting LDS community board/chat room, be a shining example, share your testimony when the Spirit prompts you, make a concerted effort to spread the Gospel IN PERSON, and don't worry about what these "christian" websites say about us, because they will say that stuff until the end of time, regardless of whether or not you tried to change their views. Example shines more brightly than words.

My 2cents.
