I'm sorry to hear that. You're the first person I've ever heard of that has had problems.

Another thing I did after this problem is I went to windows update and clicked it just to be sure. I am set on automatic updates but I wanted to make sure that it was up todate. When I clicked it said I needed to do something with the verification tool I did that. Once that was completed there was a service pack 3 that needed to be updated and 3 more that followed. Maybe there is something I can do so that the updates that need to be varified can happen automatically along with the others...

I was leery at first about using a new browser but Firefox is awesome.

It is pretty good. Some things are different because most browsers are programed more for IE then Firefox! But the new Firefox is going to be even better.

IE is so prone to spyware, adware, worms, etc.
Yes, but not as much as it use to be.

I definitely recommend Mozilla Firefox for a browser for more secure browsing and free of pop-ups. I also like tabbed browsing (opening up different tabs in the same window for multitasking.
I’m guessing you haven’t used IE7. (And IE8 is coming out this year). It has all these features. And adding IE7pro (http://www.ie7pro.com/) which is free, does add help to IE7 even more (some of the same things that Firefox does).

there is no way I am going to risk using Firefox
That is strange, but one bad experience should taint you for life.

If you really want to have some fun, try this browser. (Its built on top of IE, doesn’t use it as your main browser, just for fun)

Yes and now. If you Trust Microsoft that much then having update automaticlly is fine. I don't. I do have updates on, but I let it notify me of the update and then I choose if I want to download it or not. I don't have SP3 yet, but Microsoft hasn't offered it through windows update.

Interesting you should say this I have wondered about it some but I thought Microsoft was okay and the way to protect yourself... I did a manual update scan and that is how I found the SP3.

Thanks for all of your advice.

Not to be completely out of sink with everyone else, but after years of Microsoft dramas, including viruses, I've switched to iMac. What a delight. I still have virus protection, but it is all so much easier.

Now I've done it...I've outed myself as a minority.

A number people on Mormon Discussions have said how much they like their Mac computers. It sounds like a great combination, with the processors from IBM and the operating system based of freeBSD.

I stay with PCs and XP for the abundant software and for the fact that I can build and upgrade my computer and save a lot of bucks. Wish they would make all the PC games for linux, then there would be no reason to stay with Microsoft.

Excellent advice. Nod32 is the very best when it comes to heuristic scans as well. Since most of my customers generally look to me for their choice of virus scan, they have Nod32 on their computers. When it comes to computer security, your antivirus is worth paying for.

I just wonder if anyone else has seen this or heard about it.
That page reeks of spyware, malware, trojans, viruses, whatever.

In essence, that link and everything on it is BAD and you should scan your computer with one of the recommended anti-virus programs asap to make sure you didn't catch anything from it.
