Umm, I'm not much for hunting... The reason I raise these pheasants is because our property was illegally hunted out while we were living in Finland for a couple years. I've called our local zoo and they MIGHT take him once he's full grown, but until then, he gets to live in the backyard with my duck (who hates him a lot). He's not the nicest little bird, but he sure is funny! If nothing else, I'll just have a random hissing pheasant living in my yard for the rest of its life.

I did emphasize the hunting aspect of it, but its actually more of a "poaching" book where at the end most of the peasants go free. Yea where their property is illegally hunted I suppose. Its mainly a story about the bonding relationship between a father and his son. Also a story about the underdog triumphing. Its very heart warming.

So is it a male or female that this happened to?

Isn't this a male in the picture?
