I can understand going along with your friends, because the consequences of being different are really painful. In New Era stories, people respect you for your integrity, but in real life, you can lose friends, or be ridiculed and gossiped about.

But the pressure to conform never goes away, and if you smile and nod and just follow the crowd, you are setting a precedent for the years to come. Picture the woman you want to be at 20, or 40, or 70. Is she easily influenced and only has opinions shared by others? Or is she strong-willed, with a mind of her own, doing what she wants, and not just what others have told her to do? These are the kind of characteristics you develop now, and will help determine the rest of your life.
