Default New Mom Question

Hello Ladies,

I was wondering if you could help me out. Is there anything I can do to reduce the appearance of my stretch marks from pregnancy or help the saggy skin on my belly go back to where it used to be? I hate looking at it and don't want hubby to see it either. Thanks.

D

Oh honey! Those aren't stretch marks....they are battle scars!!! To be worn with pride!! Hehehe!

First of all, they fade and tighten over time. Especially if you exercise and eat well. I have heard of many products you can put on the skin to reduce the look of the lines. Maderma for scars, for example. I have used some. I think they work better over time.

I had stretchmarks before I got pregnant and currently Im useing a mixture of shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil. It seems to be helping alot. It reduses the redness of the new ones almost immidietly and it seems to make the old ones less noticeable.

Do you mix them together or put them on separately?

I hadnt put some on for awhile and noticed I had one starting that was starting to hurt. So I put some on last night and Its alot smaller now. Oh and dont get anything with mineral oil in it. It draws the moisture from inside you to the surface of your skin and you want to help put and lock moisture in not draw it from other parts of you. Moisture helps it heal faster.

Mixed it together. I call it my belly butter. Its really greasy when you first put it on but your skin absorbs it quite quickly.

I found all the ingredients at Wal-mart. There is a bodybutter that comes in a tub in the lotion section thats mainly Shea butter and cocoa butter and the coconut oil is in the bakeing section. I pulled out about a third of the bodybutter and mixed in a third coconut oil.

I've heard a lot of "experts" say that nothing works, but that they lighten over time. My red stretch marks turned a silvery color. My husband doesn't mind them because I got them bearing his children. Sagging skin - I don't know. A friend of mine tried and tried and tried with lots of exercise and finally got a tummy tuck when she decided she was done having kids. They make a cut around your pelvic area, tug the skin down and cut off the excess, then they give you a fake bellybutton because the old one is gone. I'd rather have the sagging skin.
