[font=Arial][size=7][color=blue][b]I have been inactive for 10 yrs and my husband too I am a convert he was raised in the church. I am afraid my daughter is going to marry in the temple and we won't be able to go. That is not the right reason to go back I tried at the first of the year it lasted 4 weeks. I just did not feel the strong desire or the spirit. We live the word of wisdom and we don't do bad things except not pay our tithing . Any advice is appreciated

Maybe you could call your bishop and tell him that you don't want to be active or pay tithing, but you want to go to your daughter's wedding. I can't imagine anybody denying parents of attending their own daughter's wedding. Try that and come back and tell us if that works so we know the next time somebody asks that. Good luck.

jules:

some things that might help:
1- pray for the desire
2- pray again for the desire
3- try to help and serve others- it just seems to work

bat:

are you saying a bishop would allow an unworthy person to enter the temple, and are you advising a person who knows they're not worthy to try and enter the temple anyway?

I believe that she is as worthy as anybody else to see her daughter's wedding. Don't you?

You do realize what Bat is right? If not, hopefully you'll soon learn to react appropriately the internet is much more enjoyable when you learn to spot such people.

I was inactive for about the same amount of time. I don't think I know what would work for you. My wife and I just decided that the time had come to do the right thing. Of course we both knew in our hearts what was right. We went to the Bishop, and told him what we wanted to do, and the three of us set a goal. Now we are active and we are happier than we ever hoped we would be.

In hind site, I guess the best thing we did, was to pray together, and in private every day. We also tried to read scripture every day.

I now teach a Temple prep class. And the first thing I tell the students is....If you are going to the Temple for someone else, or if you are not worthy PLEASE go home and wait until you are doing it for the right reasons. To go to the Temple when you are not worthy, is paramount to mocking God. I doubt that you want to do that.

I mock g-d all the time. I called Jesus a zombie the other day. That was big fun.

Of course, this pre-suposes that the Mormon church is right.

If it is right for you, just go. Attend, pay your tithing. If it is right for you. Do you mind me asking why you went inactive?

To put loving parents in a position where they have to choose hipocracy or being banned from their OWN CHILD'S wedding is paramount to mocking God IMHO. The lack of empathy on the part of church leaders on this issue is absolutely astonishing to me. How would they feel if their child got married somewhere that deemed them "unworthy" to attend. Who could possibly be more worthy to attend a child's wedding than the parent who gave them life and raised them? It's sickening.

I can't offer you any advice as I do not understand all of the rules set up with who gets to enter the temple and all that, but I will be praying for you. It isn't fun to feel like the flame is low... so I pray the Spirit of God will fan your flame.
